Introducing the 2026 Beetle Magnet Collection — 14 Species at True 1:1 Scale

Today marks an exciting expansion of the Stellar Start catalogue. After eighteen months of sculpting, painting, and field-testing, we are officially launching the 2026 Beetle Magnet Collection — fourteen hand-painted, museum-quality beetle refrigerator magnets, each reproduced at true 1:1 scale in epoxy resin. This is the first time we have stepped outside of professional reptile equipment, and we want to explain exactly why, and what makes these collectibles different from anything else on the market.

Why Beetle Magnets? Why Now?

Our customer base has always sat at the intersection of two enthusiast communities — professional reptile keepers and invertebrate collectors. Walk into any high-quality reptile shop in Tokyo, Taipei, Bangkok, or Berlin, and you will find tarantulas alongside ball pythons, scorpions next to leopard geckos, and increasingly, framed beetle specimens on the wall behind the counter. The natural history collectibles space has been growing 14% year-over-year since 2022, but the supply side has been dominated by either fragile dried specimens or low-quality plastic toys.

We saw an opportunity to build something genuinely premium: real-scale, real-detail beetle replicas that work as collectibles, retail merchandise, and educational props — without the legal complications of trading real specimens across borders. Resin beetle magnets solve all three problems at once.

Museum-Quality Craftsmanship at 1:1 Scale

The 1:1 scale promise is not marketing language. Every beetle in this collection is digitally scanned from real specimens and reproduced at exact field dimensions. A Chalcosoma chiron belangeri (Caucasus Beetle) in our collection measures 130mm body length, 78mm wide, 44mm thick — identical to a male adult specimen from the Indochinese highlands. The Giraffe Sawtooth Stag stretches to a full 118mm including its dramatic 107mm mandibles, exactly as it would in the wild.

Materials and process:

  • Resin body: Two-part epoxy resin, hand-poured into silicone molds taken from real specimens. UV-stable, will not yellow under daylight.
  • Hand-painted finish: Each unit is painted in layers by trained artists — base coat, iridescent mid-coat, detail highlights, satin sealer. Multi-day drying between coats.
  • Magnetic backing: Neodymium rare-earth magnets embedded into the underside, strong enough to hold the unit firmly to any ferrous surface (refrigerator, magnetic display board, metal frame).
  • Weight: Substantial — these feel like collectibles, not novelty toys.

Because each unit is hand-painted, no two beetles in this collection are perfectly identical. Slight variations in iridescent sheen and detailing are intentional and signal authenticity.

The 14 Species in Our Collection

The launch lineup covers the most iconic species in the global beetle collector world, grouped into three subfamilies:

Rhinoceros Beetles (Dynastinae) — 7 species:

  • Caucasus Beetle (Chalcosoma chiron belangeri) — Asia's largest beetle
  • Borneo Caucasus Beetle (Chalcosoma mollenkampi) — Borneo-endemic
  • Alcides Rhinoceros Beetle (Chalcosoma alcides) — Southeast Asian icon
  • Sumatran Atlas Beetle (Xylotrupes sumatrensis) — formidable combat beetle
  • Mars Elephant Beetle (Megasoma mars) — Central/South American giant
  • Jason's Rhinoceros Beetle (Megaceras jason) — South American Megaceras
  • Trident Beetle (Beckius beccarii) — Indonesia/PNG, distinctive tri-horn
  • Rabbit-Ear Beetle (Eupatorus birmanicus) — Thai/Myanmar, ear-like horns
  • Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle (Allomyrina dichotoma) — Asia's beloved "unicorn beetle"

Stag Beetles (Lucanidae) — 4 species:

  • Giraffe Sawtooth Stag (Prosopocoilus giraffa intermedia) — world's longest stag
  • Giant Mandible Stag (Hexarthrius mandibularis) — wave-mandibled super-large stag
  • Sumatran Giant Flat Stag (Dorcus titanus yasuokai) — Sumatra-island combat stag
  • Dalmanni Stag Beetle (Odontolabis dalmanni intermedia) — Philippine Odontolabis

Ground Beetles (Carabidae) — 1 species:

  • Decorse's Giant Ground Beetle (Crepidopterus decorsei) — Madagascan carnivorous monster

Built for Wholesale: Low MOQ, Mix & Match

Unlike our rack systems, which often ship by the container, the Beetle Magnet Collection is designed for flexible low-MOQ wholesale. Pet retailers, expo merchants, and natural history shops can order small quantities and mix species freely to test what sells in their market.

This makes the collection ideal for:

  • Reptile shops — counter-display add-ons that capture impulse purchases from the same customer base that buys live animals and equipment
  • Reptile/insect expos — high-margin, low-weight merchandise that travels easily and refreshes from event to event
  • Natural history boutiques — premium collectibles to pair with framed specimens and entomology books
  • Educational institutions — handling props for entomology programs where real specimens are too fragile
  • Gift retailers — for customers shopping for the reptile/insect enthusiast in their life

How to Order

The collection is available immediately for wholesale orders. Lead times are short — typically 2–3 weeks from order confirmation for stock species, with longer windows for OEM customization (custom packaging, branded display cards, exclusive color variants).

To request pricing, sample units, or a tailored quote, reach out to our wholesale team via WhatsApp or the contact form. Tell us roughly how many units you are interested in, which species, and your shipping destination — we will get back to you within one business day with pricing and lead time confirmation.

We are excited about this expansion, and we think you will be too once you hold one of these beetles in your hand. They are heavier, more detailed, and frankly more impressive than the catalogue photos suggest.
